The Mala Praxis Project will participate in the CIP 2018 of the UNTREF

The Mala Praxis project, promoted by the Bachelor's degrees in Electronic Arts and the Master's Degree in Technology and Aesthetics of Electronic Arts of the University will participate in the VII Ibero-American Congress of Pedagogy (CIP 2018), organized by the National University of Tres de Febrero (UNTREF) and the Spanish Society of Pedagogy, and that will take place from August 14 to 17 at the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). The presentation of the project will be done in the context of the motto of the Congress: "Innovation and the future of education for a plural world", which will cover the new political, economic, social and cultural contexts of Latin American countries.
The congress will convene different teaching professionals to speak about research and innovative experiences at all levels of education systems. And Mala Praxis will present the work done this year, explaining its methodology, educational strategy and reach in middle school students. Made up of a staff composed of more than 20 people including teachers, artists, tutors and collaborators, Mala Praxis is a project of articulation between secondary and university education that generates a device of artistic-pedagogical intervention in the classroom.
Thanks to it, the students of some secondary schools of the Buenos Aires suburbs are advised by students of the higher education level to carry out facilities, build mechatronic objects, practice video art, make kinetic and sound sculptures and learn electronic luthery, among other issues.
“This project basically calls for undergraduate and graduate students of Electronic Arts that make up an artistic-pedagogical pair with teachers from different areas of high school. The university goes to school and settles throughout the school year, promoting a new way of learning, different from the traditional one, ”explained José María D'Angelo, academic coordinator of Mala Praxis.
“We are going to talk about the characteristics of Mala Praxis, the objectives it pursues and the impact it generates on students. It is important to emphasize that our way of working is related to learning by project, that is to say that we capture the interests of the students with respect to a topic and from there we approach it between several disciplines and then materialize that interest in an artistic format ”, D'Angelo explained. According to the coordinator, the team will develop this type of teaching that escapes orthodox and traditional education. "It is no longer about transmitting knowledge, but about building it," he said.
Mala Praxis started in 2010 at Caseros High School No. 8 and became a natural bridge for students to enter the university. The academic coordinator explained that thanks to this initiative, secondary students no longer perceive the university environment as something distant and unattainable, but that the possibilities of insertion are increasingly real.
